Wanted: Ideas for making bookmarks

I want ideas for bookmarks that I can make and also ones that my 6 year old daughters can make. Thanks in advance.

I cut thinnish long strips of adda (sp?) cross stitch fabric and pull out a few rows of stitches to fray them all around, more so at the bottom and the kids up the club I volunteer at sew on them. Not all of them can do cross stitch, even though I have tried to show them, so they just sew what they want.

Don't know if this is the sort of thing you are looking for but the kids get a kick out of producing their own work.
