The purl stitch is the second basic stitch you will use. In combination with the garter stitch, it can make a beautiful baby blanket, single or double bed blanket.

Purl stitch step 1

With empty needle in your right hand insert tip down through the top of the hole in the first stitch on your left needle. Keep wool to the left of your needle.

Purl stitch step 2 Step 2

Wrap wool counterclockwise around the right needle that has been inserted through the stitch.

Purl stitch step 3 Step Three

Guide needle back through the stitch with left thumb holding firmly but not too tightly.
