This is another candle making idea that is perfect for younger children since no heat is needed (Adult supervision is required). They also make nice candles for the backyard or for a garden party too.

Candle Making Safety
First Aid

Chill the bowl or container of water, or use cold water and put in ice cubes until water is cold, and then scoop out the remaining ice cubes. Hold on to your cookie mold with the tips of your fingers and let it rest on top of the water. Then pour wax crystals into your cookie mold.

*A quick note about the cookie mold: I tried several types of cookie molds and the best ones to use were ones with rounded shapes. I tried ones with pointy edges like stars, and they didn't keep their shape very well when i pulled the cookie mold away.

Spread the candle wax crystals around the mold, making sure to fill in right to the edge. Add more crystals if you are short. Mine are about 1/4" thick. make floating candles using wax crystals step 2
Pull the mold up slowly. A little of the wax at the edges may fall down, but not enough to ruin your project. make floating candles using wax crystals step 3
Stick in your pre treated candle wick and trim if necessary.

Light!
I found that these candles kept their shape for well over 24 hours. If you bump the bowl, it may cause your shape to break apart so you do have to give some care when handling.
