Candle Making Discussion
Melt wax and combine it separately with two candle dye colors to create a multi-colored pillar candle. Make a variety of color combinations for different holidays (in this case Halloween), or use a special person's favorite colors in the candle to give them as a gift. You can use a pillar candle mold to make this candle or recycle a container. In this case, I used a pringles can as my mold.

Candle Making Tools

• Wax melter or double boiler
• Stainless steel measuring cup
• Pillar Candle Mold or recycled container (I used a Pringles can)
• Popsicle stick
• Scissors

Candle Making Supplies

• Candle wick
• Square metal wick tab
• Candle wax
• Black candle dye
• Orange candle dye

Candle Making Safety
First Aid

Cut a piece of wick that is a couple of inches longer than the height of the mold or recycled container used in this case. Melt some wax. Pre-dip the piece of wick and let the wax harden completely. Insert the end into the wick tab, which will anchor the wick in place after you have centered it in the container. How to make a multi colored pillar candle step 1
Add black candle dye to the wax you have already melted. Pour the black candle wax into the container with the wick already in place. Use a Popsicle stick to prevent the wick from falling over or shifting from where you have it centered. Use several Popsicle sticks if necessary to keep the wick in place. Allow to the wax to cool but not harden. You will see a thick skin on the wax. It will feel slightly mushy to the touch. How to make a multi colored pillar candle step 3
Melt additional wax. Add orange candle dye to the wax. Pour the orange wax on top of the cooled black wax already in the container. As you did above, use several Popsicle sticks to prevent the wick from falling over or shifting from where you originally arranged it. Allow the wax to cool once again. The wax will have sunk down some so you need to add some more orange wax to make the candle level. How to make a multi colored pillar candle step 4
Allow the wax to harden completely this time. Remove your candle from the pillar mold (or in this case I am reusing a Pringles can) and trim your wick to 1/4" above the candle.

To make this pillar candle a gift, wrap it up in a Anime Cosplay Costumes box or with a piece of cellophane, add a raffia tie and a little accessory that matches the occasion to dress it up and you have gift giving at it's simplest.
