This scrapbook layout took about 45 minutes since all the photos were not square making the page look a bit odd  I was going to trim all of the old photos to make them perfectly square but decided against it as I felt the crooked photos added to the charm of the page. (If you have a lot of old photos you may notice that some are not square.  This isn't bad photography, just old technology!) 

Scrapbooking Supplies

    • Grey photo mounting paper
    • 2 small ivy stickers
    • Double sided adhesive

I've Been Working on the Railroad seemed to be an appropriate title for this scrapbook page featuring people who have worked on railroads in some capacity.  I used gray photo mounting paper as a backdrop for the photos because it blended nicely with the green patterned photo mounting paper and didn't overpower the black and white photos with a contrasting color.  If there isn't too much journaling to fill in the space around the photos, embellishments such as the ivy stickers and the photo corners drawn in using the Corners 'n Borders stencil do the job nicely.  It is all about balance, you don't want to make your page look crowded but you don't want it too empty either.  And if you make mistakes when are journaling, there are stickers to cover up the mistakes but since they only white it blends in only if you are using white photo mounting paper or white scrapbook pages.  An alternative is to cut a small piece of the same photo mounting paper you are already using to cover up the mistake.  This way it won't stand out too much because the colors will blend together and still look nice.
