Scrapbooking Discussion

The inspiration for this layout was a birthday party for my daughter’s second birthday. Every year we visit her grandparents at the same time and we celebrate her birthday. This year we were lucky enough to all be together so it was a real family celebration. These photos represent the main and cutest moments of the celebration. There were other similar photos but the ones I used were chosen for representation of the people involved, the special moments and for the possibilities of cropping them into circles and ovals.

Scrapbooking Notes:

The main photo where she is blowing out her candle with her aunt and uncle gets a prominent space at the top of the layout and was only cropped using the corner rounder because the subjects took up so much space in the photo. This is still keeping with the rounded edges type layout I was trying to make. The remaining photos are either oval or circular and they are like bubbles representing special moments with her aunt and uncle separately as well as a spontaneous moment all on her own. The photos all tie in nicely together. I arranged them overlapped like this because they fit nicely on the page. The photos also cover up any empty space in the photos where they overlap each other. I decided to use the rounded edges of the photos at the bottom to shape the journaling and this just emphasizes the round shapes. I did the same with journaling for the top photos so the straight edges of the top photo were emphasized. I staggered the letters of birthday to ensure I had enough space for all the letters as well as “2 U” which also adds a bit of whimsy to the layout. Blank space would have looked out of place with this very full layout so I added some border stickers at the sides and a gift sticker in each corner. I also added a birthday hat sticker above my daughter’s head in the top photo because she never wears those hats and it also fills up some of the empty space in the photo that couldn’t be cropped.
