Book Review

The thing that I like about this book is that it is not only a craft book but also a storybook. It is a great way to extend a child’s favorite story into a toy or activity. Accompanying each craft/activity are great illustrations of the story the craft represents. There is also part of the rhyme or story displayed somewhere with the craft instructions. All the materials are illustrated for children to identify visually and easil and the step-by-step craft instructions are accompanied by illustrations that are geared toward child participation. Some of the crafts require adult assistance, for example the Twinkle Star Finger Puppet is made from a cd and an adult needs to cut it into a star shape.

The 79 crafts and activities in this book are divided into these categories, Nursery Rhymes, Children’ Songs, Children’s Stories and Fairy Tales. There are a wide variety of unique crafts. A lot of the crafts use recyclable materials you may have around the house or inexpensive materials you can purchase easily. The crafts/activities are fun and appealing for children to make and play with and often incorporate tracing or using their hands for the activity.
