Book Review
Everything about The Crafty Art Book screams it is for children.
The colors used throughout the entire book are bright and the images
of the projects are displayed beautifully and appealingly. The projects
in the photos are shown almost life size in most cases and it is
these bold images that will appeal to children and entice them to
do a project.
Prior to starting a project there is a section at the beginning
of the book called Crafty kit that outlines the materials and techniques
required for some of the projects in The Crafty Art Book. The craft
instructions for all of the projects take up at least two pages
each if not more and are shown in a step-by-step format from left
to right across both pages. This makes the instructions easy for
children to follow on their own because this is how we learn to
read.
I really like the unique way some of the projects are demonstrated
and displayed, especially the printing patterns for gift-wrap. On
one page rolled up pieces of the final products are displayed and
on the next additional pieces are displayed and all around it are
examples of how to and what different patterns are made with. I
also like that the craft doesn’t end there. With the cards,
the gifts you can make in the book and the wrapping paper, there
are additional crafts that tie in with them. You can make envelopes
for the cards, boxes for the gifts and gift tags that match the
wrap. I believe this book is a must have for those of us out there
with crafty children or those who like to make gifts for their friends. |
