Book Review
The Crafter’s Project Book has four categories of projects;
paper (cards, journals, bookmarks, gift tags, place cards, placemats,
coasters, etc), fabric (scarves, pillows, sachets, napkins, handbags,
etc.), ceramic & glass (napkin rings, frames, coasters, mosaics,
painted glass, etc.) and metal, wire, & wood projects (placemats,
jewellery, frames, decoupage, candle accessories). It is important
to read the Basics section at the beginning of the book before making
a craft because it contains valuable information you need to know
about tools, materials and techniques required for the projects
in this book. There is also a patterns section at the back of the
book following all the craft instructions.
The instructions for the projects are clear, complete, easy to
follow and direct you to additional pages if there is a pattern
to copy for that craft. The materials and tools are combined into
one list directly next to the instructions, which makes it easier
to find and see clearly what you need. All the crafts have a little
introduction at the top of the page, which are an interesting and
helpful read because they contains tips, variations or background
on the piece you will be making. There are additional tips and variations
at the bottom of most of the craft projects, which contain information
on the techniques, or materials you will be using. The information
in these tips and variations further ensure your success with your
chosen project, especially if you have never attempted something
like it before.
What really makes this book unique and what I really like about
it is the wide variety of crafts included in its pages. To me this
means there is likely a project that will stir the interests of
crafters of all levels and styles. Each craft project is also unique
because it incorporates unusual and different materials such as
vellum, organza and even stitching into their composition. |
