Book Review
When I began reading Scrapbooking Your Adult Years, the first chapter
didn’t impress me because the layouts weren’t very colorful
or fun but I decided to give the book a chance so I kept reading.
If you have looked at any of the layouts I have posted on this site,
you will know that I love scrapbooking and I love new layout ideas.
In the pages of this book I discovered some interesting layout
ideas that incorporated some unusual materials or techniques in
its makeup. There was everything from tags, unique papers, fibers,
stamps, paper tearing and beads used, just to name a few. The layouts
are all contributions by individuals around North America who probably
enjoy scrapbooking as much as you do if you are taking the time
to read this book. You can use software to alter your photos, and
use for embellishment things such as clip art, vellum, chalking
on a torn edge of a piece of paper, and antique flower tacks and
brads to hold things in place as well as embellishing your layout.
After the opening sections including introduction, tips, inspiration,
tools and supplies (with photos and descriptions) the layouts begin.
The chapters are divided into categories of layouts for: This is
Me, Love Stories, Family Matters, You Gotta Have Friends, Just for
Fun and More Than a Job. A photograph of each layout is provided
as well as a write up by the creator of the layout, which includes
the materials, technique and short history behind the theme of the
layout. Additional credits & instructions for the layouts as
well as sources for the materials are provided at the back of the
book. Scrapbooking Your Adult Years is definitely worth a read because
it has 185 layout ideas using a wide variety of materials. You could
copy the layouts exactly or adapt them to fit your needs.
