Book Review
Are you handy? Did you ever want to build a deck, patio furniture
or install your own hot tub? There are many Projects and at
least one How-to section available in the following chapters on
Providing Power, Light, and Water, Altering the Landscape, Fences,
Gates, and Trellises, Framed Structures, Pools, Hot Tubs, and Spas
and Outdoor Furniture. Preceding the instructions for any
of the projects there are basic, important details you need to know
about the type of project you are undertaking. For example,
in the chapter on outdoor furniture projects (i.e. garden bench,
picnic table or chaise lounge) there are helpful construction techniques,
safety information, materials and tools sections you should read
thoroughly before starting.
For each project, there are convenient shopping and cutting lists
provided along with the instructions and an assembly diagram.
Also useful in this book is the chapter A New Look at the Old Backyard
as well as the Appendix: Wood for Outdoor Projects. They include
vital information on design, picking the right wood for your project
and how to keep it looking nice for years to come. Knowledge
and preparation is the key to the successful completion of a project.
The information in this book is definitely geared toward preparing
you in every possible way for completing a project and doing it
safely. I found this book very inspiring and informative with
a great selection of projects from which to choose. |
