Book Review
The style of Making Gift Scrapbooks in a Snap is very informal.
Following a letter from the author there is a must read section
called Getting Started (including theme album ideas, photo selection,
choosing an album, tools and supplies, assembling your album and
a handy checklist to recap the section). The chapters in this book
include Fill-in albums, Planned photo theme albums, Random photo
theme albums and Specialty theme photo albums. One scrapbook type
per section of each chapter (i.e. the Year-in-review album in the
chapter on Fill-in albums) is accompanied by a tools and materials
list and step-by-step instructions in its presentation of layout
ideas. The rest of the scrapbook ideas come with short descriptions
of the process. Each of the main scrapbook types includes one or
more of these helpful hints and tips; shortcuts, photo tips, design
tips, organization tips, journaling tips and other album ideas.
Examples of additional layouts are included with the main layout
to demonstrate different techniques that could be used.
I like the wide variety of album and layout ideas demonstrated
on the pages of Making Gift Scrapbooks because they have inspired
me to explore different avenues when doing my own scrapbooking.
I also like the way there is a photo display of the materials and
tools used for the albums that are accompanied by step-by-step instructions.
I am a very visual person and this guarantees you will purchase
the right materials you need to make your scrapbooking pages. If
you take this book for what it is, a wonderful source of inspiration
with some instruction it is a great resource for scrapbookers who
already have some experience. If you are looking for a book of complete
instructions Making Gift Scrapbooks in a Snap won’t meet all
your needs but will provide you with some great ideas and as you
develop your scrapbooking skills it will take you in new directions. |
