Book Review

This is another great book for daycare and elementary teachers who want to inspire their children to learn.  Each idea includes the name of the activity, the objective it serves (i.e. development of fine motor skills) the materials required, procedure, and a sketch of what is to be done.

The book is well organized and includes an index at the back for each type of activity including Art, Games, Cooking, Science and Math.  Painting, Junk art, Three Dimensional, Puppets and Holiday further categorize Art.  Games include Classroom Games, Outdoor or Gym games, Holiday games and See-If-You-Can Activities.  Cooking includes Breads, Cakes, Frostings, Desserts, Drinks, Main Dishes, Nibbles, Sandwich Fillings, Soups and Vegetables and Fruits.  Science and Math introduce the children to the basics and show you fun ways to explain such things as capillary action using a celery stick, missing numbers using dominoes, and quantity words such as less, more and few.  I have seen this book used for sale at amazon for as little as $2.00. A definite must have!
