Book Review

Decoupage: A Practical Step-by-Step Guide (The Decorative Workshop) is a complete instructive book on the art and craft of decoupage. I really like the extensive information contained in the opening chapters. They prepare you for working on a decoupage project by providing the insight into the proper equipment and materials you need to use and detailed instructions on basic techniques to see a project through from beginning to end.
There are a wide variety of projects to decorate the home to meet different needs and styles; anything from angels, floral, fruits, Victorian, and antique to combinations of flowers and butterflies or dragonflies. A few steps of each project are demonstrated in photos accompanied by written instructions next to the photo as well as full instructions for preparing the base of the project (i.e. the cabinet) and decorating it. The instructions are very clear and are written from the personal experience of the author. I like this because it is more like she is explaining it to you in person rather than just writing the instructions step-by-step for you to follow. Her style of writing seems to make it easier to understand the instructions and complete a project.
