Book Review

I like the whimsical quality of this book.  While the crafts are still being taken seriously, the enjoyment of putting together this book as well as the crafts is evident in the style of the illustrations and abundance of color used throughout.  Mary Engelbreit has also put her personal stamp on this book with descriptions introducing each chapter to give you a taste of the delights to come in the following pages. This gives the book an inviting quality that is rarely experienced in crafting books.

Mary Engelbreit has presented her readers with a variety of home decorating projects for almost every room in the house as well as outdoors.  Full size patterns are included right next to the crafts for your convenience, not in a separate section at the back of book as is the case with most craft books.  The full size patterns allow you to make the craft instead of spending time enlarging a pattern because you have everything necessary to complete it in front of you. The instructions for the crafts are very clear and specific and help you tailor the size of the materials to your home dimensions.  Accompanying the instructions for each craft there is a small, handy section called "OUR THREE VERSIONS" that recaps the color schemes illustrated in the photographs.  Certain crafts include photos demonstrating techniques to further clarify the instructions given.
