Book Review
The projects in Crafting with 4 Supplies are divided into six chapters
based on the supplies used. There are four main components for the
crafts in each chapter including polymer clay, colored wires, beads,
buttons, colored card stock, marking pens, glitter, air dry clay,
acrylic paints, fun foam, scrapbook papers, ribbons, rubber stamps
and pads, elastic cord, glass votive candleholders, glass paints
and clay pots. At the beginning of the book there is a photo index
next to the chapter listings giving the reader a taste of the crafts
in each chapter. If you opened this book to that page if would definitely
motivate you to continue looking through its pages to see all the
crafts available. The photos of all the crafts are colorful and
vibrant, revealing the qualities and purpose it represents and which
would entice you to make it.
There is a handy section at the beginning of Crafting with 4 Supplies
on how to use this book. In is the outline of the specialty supplies
divided into their respective chapters as well as the basic supplies
you will need (and probably already have-including paintbrushes)
for some of the crafts in this book. I was really inspired by the
straightforwardness of the supply lists for the crafts and loved
the detail of the step-by-step instructions designed to help you
create beautiful things. There are photos demonstrating techniques
for a few of the crafts (i.e. Wearable Art, and Floral and Western
Glow candleholders), which is of great benefit to the readers who
might not have experimented with them before. Another bonus is the
inclusion of the patterns with the project instructions for convenience
and ease when making a craft. This is always a plus for me because
you don’t have to spend the time to look around for the pattern
and can just get on with making the craft.
I really like the unusual combinations of materials to create something
unique (wire and polymer clay to create coasters, fun foam and clay
to create a fake ice cream cone that looks soooooo real, as well
as polymer and clay pots for all the crafts in the final chapter.
I also like how one of the crafts, Tasteful Invites, (cards in the
shape of ice cream cones or teacups), could tie in with the type
of invitation you are issuing (i.e. tea or dessert). Another great
connection is the incorporation of photos and cards to personalize
crafts such as Photographic Memories (a photo card of two friends
attached to a card commemorating a birthday). If you are looking
for distinct crafts for yourself or special gifts to give to others
Crafting with 4 Supplies is the resource for you. |
