Book Review:

Craft Your Own Christmas has everything for children to make and do for the Christmas season including decorations, gifts to make, carols and Christmas songs, games and entertainment, and gift wrapping ideas. Most of the ideas in Craft Your Own Christmas are ones everyone has seen before but it is this traditional flavor that makes this book so appealing. Children can do most of the crafts in this book on their own but a few of the crafts involve the use of an oven or an iron so adult assistance is required.

Included in Craft Your Own Christmas are two small sections with patterns and stencils. The patterns and stencils require some enlarging to be used for the projects in the book. There are also some extra stencils that could be used for the Cut-Out Card (p. 71).

What I liked most about this book is the crafts and gifts, gift wrapping and games are practical and fun. You know if a family member gets one of the gifts made from this book they will be able to use and appreciate it because it was handmade with love. Making their own gifts teaches children the value that it is the gift of giving that is important, not the gift they are getting. When they see the appreciation on the face of the recipient that is all the thanks they will need. I also like that games and the words to carols are included because they give you ideas to make this Christmas a well rounded holiday season with fun to be had at all times.
