Book Review

Overall this book is very appealing to children because it has drawings that are colorful and each page is topped by a line of decorative gift boxes. All the supplies and tools are illustrated in color next to the illustrated instructions. The main steps of the craft are illustrated with color drawings so it is even easier for children to understand the instructions. The written instructions are also very simple and straightforward.

I like the crafts in this book because they are very child friendly, requiring little if any adult assistance. Some of the crafts are also environmentally friendly. For example, you can recycle a marker cap for the Marker Cap Lapel Pin or a wire hanger for the Christmas Wreath Hanger. You can also use nature items for the Milkweed Pod Ornament.

I think it is very important that the wide variety of gifts the kids can make from this book include something for the entire family (mother, father, younger brother or sister, a new baby, grandma, grandpa and even the dog and the cat). The gifts include practical items such as pins and jewellery that can be worn, stuffed toys, and ornaments or decorations for the home and car.
