Book Review
I really like Celtic Knits: Over 25 Designs for Babies, Children
and Adults because there are some truly beautiful and inspiring
projects to make for the whole family. The projects in this book
include scarves, sweaters, hats, socks and jackets for adults and
children. The projects range in style between casual and elegant
items of clothing such as the Fair Isle Cardigan and the Cashmere
Crossover Top.
At the beginning of the book there is a brief introduction and
some basics including tension, knitting terms (abbreviations and
differences between British and US terms) and washing instructions
for the yarn called Rowan denim used in several of the projects
in this book. This is always handy and helpful to read before starting
a new project because it is kind of like a refresher and helps to
ensure success with your knitting.
The instructions for the project are standard and clearly written.
A pattern chart with a color key accompanies each project that requires
it. The measurements and number of balls of yarn required are provided
and adjusted for the different sizes it is possible to make for
each project. Accompanying the instructions for each project there
is a photo of the finished product being worn or displayed beautifully.
The adjusted number of stitches required for different sizes is
also provided in brackets next to the original amount.
Debbie Bliss has written quite a few knitting books from instructional
books on knitting to collections books such as this one and you
definitely can’t go wrong with her experience backing them.
The intermediate knitter will have no problem with these patterns
because they already have some experience knitting but this book
would be a great buy for all knitters even if you weren’t
ready to make the projects in it. One day you may be looking for
the right thing to knit and it will be in this book. |
